No Town Like My Town: First Draft and Crowd-funding Video

Ahead of our most recent meeting for the Short Film module we had put out the word that we were looking for people to bring fully formed scripts to the table for their ideas, or if they didn’t have an idea to move forward with, they could take one of three quotes we supplied them with and script a short scene either featuring or based from that quote. With time ticking on we really needed to get the ball rolling in making a final decision at least on an idea that we could continue developing on the run up to the christmas break.

Feeling like I had a duty to also bring a script to the table because I had set the task, I started thinking up ideas. It was then that I found inspiration from my dearly departed Granddad and those lazy Sunday evenings where he would sit me down to watch ‘a real classic’, a good old Western! And so I created the script for the working titled film ‘No Town Like My Town’. This a Contemporary Western set in modern day Prague that follows the silent Janek as he stalks the streets of old town Prague in search of a drug kingpin known as Tomas with a hidden agenda. The script has recently undergone a slight edit and no doubt needs further edits to fine tune the dialogue and action taking place and to make sure that the resonating themes of a Western are obvious to the audience. Inspiration for the script was drawn from the Coen brother’s No Country for Old Men and Quentin Tarantino’s style of scripting dialogue. – Special Thanks: Your name won’t be forgotten, you will gain a Special Thanks within the end credits.

– The Hangman: In addition to joining the Brotherhood, you will feature in the film as an unlucky casualty of Tomas’ wrath! This perk is only available to England, Wales or Scotland based contributors as we will travel to your location, dress you up and take a photograph to be used during a key point in the film.
– The Clint Eastwood: In addition to joining the Brotherhood, you can feature as an extra in a scene of the film! The film is being shot in Prague and unfortunately we will not be able to fund your travel or stay but will take care of you during your time on set. For this reason, the following perk is ideal for anyone situated in or around Prague itself. In addition to this, you will gain an Executive Producers credit on IMBD
